Great River Race 2014

The Great River Race has come round again and Chris from Rowing for Pleasure was spotted pulling hard through Putney on Gladys (above).

They looked to be in a good position to retain their title but we'll find out later.

Of course not all were taking it as seriously as Chris:
Some also seemed to have stopped off for refreshments:
More photos to come...

It was a fab day. We won the Supervets trophy (again) but sadly our annual fear that a Claydon skiff would turn up manned by fit youngsters came to pass this year and they got that cup, the cads.
That currach was tied up next to us at the start - very nice guys from Cork. At least they kept the beer for the beer break - one boat cracked open the Fosters at the start line (photo evidence on rowingforpleasure).

Congrats! Which was the super fast Claydon skiff? I might have a pic of them.

There seemed to be several boats using Putney Bridge as either a time marker or a crew swap-over point
