Now we are eight

Golly doesn't time fly, it's Halloween again and that means this blog is yet another year older.

I took the opportunity to update my blog list using some of the suggestions Tillerman gave, a task that reminded me of those bloggers we haven't heard from recently.

Where are you O'Docker, the Knitting Sailor, Messing about Adam or the rower that now bikes a lot?

Time and tide wait for no one as they say, and the shadows are getting ever longer on 2014. Who knows what is in store for us in the last few months of this year, let alone 2015?

Hope you have an enjoyably spooky evening....

Yes, where did all those old favorite bloggers go? I usually delete blogs that are clearly no longer active, but it will be a sad day when I have to chop O Docker.

I must've barely made the cut with my mindless single photo of an oyster with a quick three sentence caption

Congratulations on your 8th anniversary, I'm not sure if it's just me but there seems to be less blogging going on these days -

I too wonder if there is less blogging going on. Maybe a combination of it being less of a novelty and other platforms such as twitter and instagram?

Congrats on the 8 years, JP! Quite an accomplishment.

There do seem to be fewer bloggers in the watery sports niche who post on a daily or near-daily basis than there used to be. I think you are right that other social media platforms have had an impact.

JP and Bonnie are to be congratulated on keeping their blogs fresh and interesting and prolific for so long. Maybe a secret of their success is that they address a wide variety of topics as well as their "core" subjects.

I think going off topic a moderate amount helps keep a blog fresh, in particular if its for something like food and music that most people are interested in - and I'm not just saying that as I have two gig reviews to blog.

The frequency of events makes some subjects easier to blog than others. So what's happening in the London especially Thames related is a busy topic, which helps create newsy stories. But that's nothing to a friend of mine who food "blogs" and there's always some new pop up restaurant or market stall to tweet or instagram about.
