Spotted in the British Library yesterday - but what are they?

Good guess! Definitely on the right track but not Polynesian.

They are shoe horns belonging to Robin Knox Johnston.

Another guess, nice one but wrong, though there is actually a vague R-KJ connection.

They are Inuit maps made from driftwood showing islands and the shape of the coastline.

And they cover part of the coast of Greenland. From what little I know of that part of the world I would guess they cover the stretch from Sermiligaaq to Kangertittivatsiaq.

BTW the proper name of the end fjord is "Kanger-something", or at least that's what I've been calling it.
