When I read your post headline "The Swan" I thought, "hey, Captain JP is writing about a nice and secret pub he found while boating on the Thames"...Has my mind been twisted by living in England for the last two years ?
Cyrille, that was my first thought, too. I've even been to a pub or two by that name, along that stretch of the Thames.
Lovely photo, JP.I think the French writer, Marcel Proust, was taken by this spot on the Thames as well and petitioned local authorities to have the river bank there renamed "Swan's Way".
Cyrille & Carol Anne: we did actually look out for "The Swan" in Pangbourne as its famous as the place where the "Three men in a boat" ended their voyage.O'Docker: every time I try to read Proust I very strangely fall asleep or have this urge to run 5km so alas can not confirm or deny your suggestion.
