Thames Trip: The Swan

The river teamed with wild life. I wish I knew water birds better so could list them all, but there were definitely loads of geese, ducks and, as above, swans.

Alas no moles, rats or toads to see, but I like to think they were there in the river banks.

When I read your post headline "The Swan" I thought, "hey, Captain JP is writing about a nice and secret pub he found while boating on the Thames"...
Has my mind been twisted by living in England for the last two years ?

Cyrille, that was my first thought, too. I've even been to a pub or two by that name, along that stretch of the Thames.

Lovely photo, JP.

I think the French writer, Marcel Proust, was taken by this spot on the Thames as well and petitioned local authorities to have the river bank there renamed "Swan's Way".

Cyrille & Carol Anne: we did actually look out for "The Swan" in Pangbourne as its famous as the place where the "Three men in a boat" ended their voyage.

O'Docker: every time I try to read Proust I very strangely fall asleep or have this urge to run 5km so alas can not confirm or deny your suggestion.
